Eastern Sky has been in business in Orlando (Casselberry) since 1990. We have two locations and three studios, all centered on Pro Tools digital audio systems and Media 100i non-linear video editing systems.

Prior to 1990, the Eastern Sky moniker presided over several audio recording ventures. The first studio, in 1980, was located in Jacksonville, Florida and was equipped with a Tascam Model 5 console and Otari 8 track recorder. (Remember those, anyone?) We recorded music from rock to gospel and our multimedia experience was limited to soundtracks for slide presentations.

In 1982, David Brown moved south to Orlando assuming the role of General Manager for a fledgling record label. Within three years the label was distributed by CBS (now Sony). Eastern Sky became the company for David’s freelance activities during this time. In 1986, David left the record business and was hired as audio engineer for Quad, a state of the art post production facility owned by publishing giant Harcourt. "That’s how I started in audio post. I had always worked in film and video as an aside, even shooting and editing music videos at the label, but now I was mixing to picture every day." In 1989, Harcourt closed its studio and Eastern Sky assumed several contracts to complete works in progress. Jon Reames, a producer at Quad and later Nickelodeon, joined to manage scheduling and production. By the spring of 1990, we were booking studios in Orlando but needed unlimited access to accommodate our schedule.

Eastern Sky opened its first studio in Casselberry during the summer of 1990. We were fully digital by 1992 and in 1994 we expanded by adding a second Pro Tools studio and a non-linear video editing suite.

Rosati Acoustics + Multimedia of Boston was hired in 1996 to design a new studio. In the fall of 1998 we were up and running in our new main studio. Capabilities of the new room include 5.1 mixing, mixing to picture for film and video and non-linear video editing. In the fall of 2001 we purchased a building in Casselberry where additional studios and offices are now located.

In the years since we started, Eastern Sky has produced thousands of hours of programming for the country's most demanding clients.
